Low-Fat Black Beans

Adapted from the recipe on the back of a can of Bush’s brand black beans. They’re a great low-fat side dish for any Mexican fare. Very simple to prepare.

Ingredients: [‘black beans’, ‘onion’, ‘fat-free chicken broth’, ‘ground thyme’, ‘ground cumin’, ‘salt’, ‘pepper’]

Quantity of Ingredients: [“2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, drained and rinsed “,”1/2 cup onion, chopped “,”1 cup fat-free chicken broth”,”1 teaspoon ground thyme”,”1 teaspoon ground cumin”,”1/2 teaspoon salt”,”1/2 teaspoon pepper”]

Number of Servings: 6

Steps: [‘Combine all ingredients into a medium saucepan.’, ‘Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until beans are tender and begin to split.’, ‘Serve immediately.’]
