Too Easy Granola Bars (Muesli Bars)

I found this on the allrecipes website about 12 months ago and have altered it to suit my family. This is a regular in my kids’ lunch boxes. I don’t understand why people buy muesli bars when they are so fast and cheap to make from scratch. Recipe can be doubled and tripled; remember to use a larger tin though.

Ingredients: [‘rolled oats’, ‘brown sugar’, ‘wheat germ’, ‘cinnamon’, ‘flour’, ‘honey’, ‘egg’, ‘vegetable oil’, ‘vanilla’, ‘sultanas’]

Quantity of Ingredients: [“2 cups rolled oats”,”1/2 cup brown sugar”,”1/2 cup wheat germ”,”1/2 teaspoon cinnamon”,”1 cup flour”,”1/2 cup honey”,”1 egg, lightly beaten “,”1/2 cup vegetable oil”,”2 teaspoons vanilla”,””,””,” sultanas, apricots, dates (your choice, chop first and optional) or fig (your choice, chop first and optional)”]

Number of Servings: 16

Steps: [‘In a large bowl mix the rolled oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, and flour; stir.’, ‘In large measuring jug add the honey, egg, vegetable oil, and vanilla; mix.’, ‘Make a well and add the wet to the dry and mix like mad.’, ‘Generously grease an 18x28cm (9×13 inch) tray.’, ‘Pour in mixture; press with your fingertips.’, ‘Bake at 175 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes (or until the sides are golden).’, ‘Cool for 5 minutes.’, ‘Slice into even fingers while warm (it will be too hard once cold).’, ‘Cool in the baking tin.’, ‘Keep in a well sealed jar for up to 5 days.’]
