Sweettreats Buttercream Frosting

I have been decorating cakes for 8 years and this is my go to frosting recipe. I have tried many recipes and keep coming back to my original recipe. Make sure to purchase hi ratio shortening from a cake decorating supply store. Other shortenings will make your icing greasy. If you let the icing crust for 10 minutes after icing your cake you can use a paper towel to imprint a pattern on the top and edges of your cake.

Ingredients: [‘powdered sugar’, ‘shortening’, ‘salted butter’, ‘vanilla’, ‘water’]

Quantity of Ingredients: [“2 lbs powdered sugar, sifted “,”1 1/2 cups shortening”,”1/2 cup salted butter, room temp “,”2 tablespoons clear vanilla”,”1/3 cup water or 1/3 cup milk”]

Number of Servings: 20

Steps: [‘In a large bowl cream together butter and shortening until light and fluffy. Add water, vanilla and powdered sugar. Make sure to only add small amounts of sugar at a time. With a hand mixer beat on low until blended. Once the ingredients are completely combined beat on high speed until light and fluffy about 5 minutes. If you want a thinner icing just add a little extra water or milk.’]
