Fried Beets-n-onions, what a classic! It’s hard to improve on simplicity. Makes an amazing side-dish for any meal. Try this and you will fall in love with beets like we have. Try to use fresh beets from your market or garden.

Ingredients: [‘beets’, ‘onion’, ‘butter’, ‘salt’, ‘pepper’]

Quantity of Ingredients: [“2 large beets”,”1 large onion”,”2 tablespoons butter”,”1 dash salt”,”1 dash pepper”]

Number of Servings: 4

Steps: [‘Preferably bring fresh beets in from garden. [Side-note; beets are so easy to grow–for most of the country, plant beet seeds in a row about 1/2″ deep in April or May. By August start harvesting delicious beets! You may need to thin your rows once to about 1 beet every 3″ or so].’, ‘Clean off, cut off greens (save for salad) wash and scrub if needed, rinse.’, ‘boil beets til fork tender [fork wil slip in easily] approx 20 minutes.’, ‘rinse in cold water, skins will peel/slip off.
