Kazaki Oreshki Plov (Kazaki Nut Pilaf)


Recipe is from the Best Eastern Dostyk hotel in Almaty, Kazakhstan. From my grandmother’s recipe box and dates from the ’60’s.

Ingredients: [‘water’, ‘basmati rice’, ‘salt’, ‘turmeric’, ‘nutmeg’, ‘raisins’, ‘dried prune’, ‘pistachio nut’]

Quantity of Ingredients: [“4 1/2 cups water”,”2 cups basmati rice”,”1 teaspoon salt”,”2/3 teaspoon turmeric”,”1/4 teaspoon nutmeg”,”1/2 cup raisins”,”1/2 cup dried prune, pitted “,”1 cup pistachio nut”]

Number of Servings: 8

Steps: [‘Bring water to a boil in a large pot.’, ‘Add rest of ingredients. Simmer for 20-30 min until water is absorbed.’, ‘Use fork to fluff rice and serve.’]
